Specifically, most of my work was related to making polymers from circular molecules called \"carbon nanohoops\" (if you're familiar with carbon nanotubes, nanohoops are like slices of a nanotube). We can make carbon nanohoops with atomic-level precision (not yet possible for carbon nanotubes), so by stringing carbon nanohoops together in different ways, the idea was that we'd have a lot of control over the structure and properties of the final materials.
