Genauer gesagt bezog sich ein Großteil meiner Arbeit auf die Herstellung von Polymeren aus ringförmigen Molekülen, sogenannten „Kohlenstoff-Nanoringen“ (wenn Sie mit Kohlenstoffnanoröhren vertraut sind, sind Nanoringe wie Scheiben einer Nanoröhre). Wir können Kohlenstoff-Nanoringe mit atomarer Präzision herstellen (was für Kohlenstoffnanoröhren noch nicht möglich ist), sodass wir durch das Aneinanderreihen von Kohlenstoff-Nanoringe auf verschiedene Weise viel Kontrolle über die Struktur und Eigenschaften der Endmaterialien haben.
